Cursor lets you input your own OpenAI API key to send as many AI messages as you want at your own cost.

An OpenAI API key is not the same as having a ChatGPT+ subscription!

You can get your own API key from here.

To use your own API key, open the Cursor Settings Popup, navigate to the OpenAI API section, and enter your API key. Then, click on the arrow button next to it to verify your key. Once your key has been verified, you can toggle the switch under the input to control when to use your own API key.

This also allows you to use the new GPT-4-Turbo model, which Cursor currently doesn’t use yet. Then, the new gpt-4-1106-preview (GPT-4-Turbo) model will show up in the Chat model dropdown.
